Archbishop Vincent M Concessao was born on 28 September 1936 in Karnataka. Most of his primary and high school education as well as studies for priesthood were in different places in Karnataka. He was ordained a priest in 1961 and since then he has spent major part of his life serving the Archdiocese of Delhi. He did his postgraduate studies at the Loyola University, Chicago. In 1970, he started 'Chetanalya', an NGO, to address specifically the problems of resettlement colonies, with out-reach programmes in several slums of Delhi. He became the auxiliary Bishop of Delhi in 1995; Archbishop of Agra in 1998 and has been the Archbishop of Delhi since 2000.
