The land of the Sun Temple, Odisha, is not only home to the deity of Shree Jagannath but also famous for the Odishi dance, Chhou dance and Sambalpuri dance. The east coast State is known for its rich art form and architecture, culture, Geeta Govinda of Goswami Jayadev, many old Buddhist & Jain monuments at Ratnagiri, Lalitgiri, Khandagiri and Udaygiri.

It has a long coastline of 480 km, heavy dense forest, more mining resources, and many more wild animals including the Olive Ridley turtles breeding at Gahirmatha. India's prime missile launch station is also located at Chandipur. The peace pagoda at Dhauli Pahad, the place where lakhs of Kalinga warriors laid down their lives in the war against the great King Ashoka is also part of its history.
